Meaning :
Oh, Goddess Devi, how is it that the foreside of your foot, which is the source of all fame from protecting your devotees, and which cannot be touched by danger (of any kind), has been compared to the hard tortoise shell by great poets? How could the vanquisher of the three cities (Lord Shiva), take the fore-part of your feel, in his hands, with a soft heart, and place them on a grindstone, as part of a ritual, during your marriage?
Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result
If one chants this verse 1008 times a day, for 180 days, offering jaggery payasam, fruit and coconut as prasadam; it is said that one would be able to gain command over animals.
