Meaning :
O mother, the lotus flower rots in snow, while your feet are quite adapted to being in snow capped mountains; the lotus flower sleeps (closes its petals) at night, while your feet are bright during night and after (i.e., day), the lotus slightly attains the grace of Lakshmi (by being her seat), while your feet give Lakshmi to its devotees, Thus, there is no surprise in your two feet always winning over the lotus. What is there to wonder at?
If one chants this verse 1000 times a day, for 16 days, offering milk payasam, honey, fruit and coconut; it is said that one would gain command over snakes.
