Soundarya Lahari - Shloka 79 - For Legerdemain



Sanskrit Text :

निसर्गक्षीणस्य स्तनतटभरेण क्लमजुषो
नमन्मूर्ते र्नारीतिलक शनकै स्त्रुट्यत इव
चिरं ते मध्यस्य त्रुटित तटिनीतीरतरुणा
समावस्था स्थेम्नो भवतु कुशलं शैलतनये

Transliteration :

nisargA kshINasya stana taTa bharENa klamajuShO
namanmUrtE nArI tilaka shanakai  struTyata iva
ciram tE madhyasya truTita taTini tIra taruNA
samAvastA stEmnO bhavatu kushalam shailatanayE


Meaning :

Oh daughter of the mountain, may safety be granted to you naturally slender waist, which is slightly bent and is of the form as if about to give away at the navel, strained due to the weight of your two breasts above; and whose firmness resembles that of a tree standing on the eroding bank of a rushing river.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times a day, for 45 days, offering honey as milk payasam as prasadam; it is said one would gain legerdemain.

Tamil Interpretation

சிவ சைல நகர நிவாஸினி
ஸ்ரீ திலக மருந்கழகினி

ஸ்வபாவமதாகவே மெல்லியதாய்
ஸ்தனபாரத்தால் மிக சிரமமடைந்ததோ

ஒடிந்திடுமா போலே மிக வணங்கியே
இடித்திடும் வெள்ளம் நதிக்கரயடி விருக்ஷம் போல்
அசையும் கொடி சிற்றிடை க்ஷேமமாய்
விசாலியே சுக போகமாக வாழவும்
