Soundarya Lahari - Shloka 67 - For earning royal favour




Sanskrit Text :

काराग्रेण स्पृष्टं तुहिनगिरिणा वत्सलतया
गिरीशेनोदस्तं मुहुरधरपानाकुलतया
करग्राह्यां शम्भोर्मुखमुकुरवृन्तं गिरिसुते
कथंकारं ब्रूमः तव चुबुकं औपम्यरहितम्

Transliteration :

karaagrENa sprustam tuhina-giriNA vatsalatayA
girISEnOdastam muhuradharapAnAkulatayA
karagrAhyAm SambhOrmukha mukura vruntam girisutE
kathamkAram brUmastava cubukam aupamyarahitam

Meaning :

Oh daughter of the mountains, How can we describe the beauty of your chin, which was with affectionately caressed by the tip of his fingers by your father Himavan;  Which was often lifted by the Lord of Kailasa, with eargerness to drink from your lips; Which was so fit to be touched by his fingers; Which is matchless and which forms the base of your mirror-like face.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times a day, for 45 days; offering honey, milk payasam, betel leaf and areca nuts as prasam; it is said that one would earn royal favour.

பர்வத புத்ரி பங்கஜ நேத்ரி பகவதி ஸுபுகம் ஸ்ரீ

கருணையுடன் ஹிமவான் கரத்தினால் தூக்க
ப்ரீதியுடன் குனியும் ப்ரேமவிசாலினி

அதரபானத்தில் ஆவலுடனே
அடிக்கடி சிவன் கரத்தால் தூக்கவும்
பதிசிவன் பிடிக்கும் பளின்குக்காம்பென்றால்
இமையசிவஸ்பரிசம் எந்தகண்ணாடிக்கு
