Soundarya Lahari - Shloka 52 - Removal of eye and ear ailments

Sanskrit Text :

गते कर्णाभ्यर्णं गरुत इव पक्ष्माणि दधती
पुरां भेत्तुश्चित्तप्रशमरसविद्रावणफले
इमे नेत्रे गोत्राधरपतिकुलोत्तंसकलिके
तवाकर्णाकृष्टस्मरशरविलासं कलयतः  
 
Transliteration :

gatE karNAbhyArNam garuta iva pakshmANi dadhatI
purAm bhEtthushchitta prashamarasavidrAvaNaphalE
imE nEtrE gOtrAdhArapatikulOttamsakalikE
tavAkarNAkrushTa smarasharavilAsam kalayatah

Meaning :

Oh , crest bud of the dynasty of the king of mountains, your two long eyes, with eyelashes resembling the feathers of an eagle, and reaching your ears, destroy the placidity from the mind of He who destroyed the three cities; and play the part of Smara's (Manmadha's) arrows drawn up to the ear.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times a day, for 45 days offering til-rice and payasam as prasadam; it is said that one would get removal of eye and ear ailments.

கருணா நேத்ரம் கங்க பத்ரம்போல் எழில் நயந
எதுக்குல காம்போதி நீயே
திருபுராரிக்கு சார்ந்த ரஸத்தை அடித்து காமன்
சிருங்கார ரஸமூட்டும் ஜயபாண லோசனியே
