Soundarya Lahari - Shloka 53 - To appease Devi


Sanskrit Text :

विभक्तत्रैवर्ण्यं  व्यतिकरित लीलाञ्जनतया
विभाति त्वन्नेत्र त्रितयमिदं ईशानदयिते
पुनः स्रष्टुं देवान् द्रुहिणहरिरुद्रान् उपरतान्
रजः सत्त्वं बिभ्रत्तम इतिगुणानां त्रयमिव

Transliteration :

vibhaktatraivarNyam vyatikarita lIlAnjanatayA
vibhAti tvannEtra tritayam idam IshAnadayitE
punah sraShTum dEvAn druhiNaharirudrAn uparatAn
rajah sattvam vibhrattama iti guNAnAm trayamiva

Meaning :

Oh, Darling of  Lord Shiva, those three eyes of yours are in three colours (of white, red and black), due to the collyrium that you wear to enhance thine beauty; thus wearing the three qualities (Gunas) of  Satvam, Rajas and Tamas; so as to recreate the trinity of Druhina (Brahma), Hari (Vishnu) and Rudra (Shiva) after they become one with you during the final deluge.



Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times a day, for 45 days, offering pal payasam as prasadam; it is said that it would lead to appeasement of Devi.

சிவப்ரியாசாரிணி சிதானந்த பைரவி த்ரிவர்ண லோசனி
பவ பிரளயத்தில் அடைந்த மும்மூர்த்தியை
ஸ்ரிஷ்டிக்க த்ரிகுண வர்ண ரேகை நீலாக்ஷி
சக்தி முக்குணங்களும் துலங்கிடும் த்ரிலோசனி
