Soundarya Lahari - Shloka 50 - For cure of Pox

Sanskrit Text :

कवीनां संदर्भस्तबकमकरन्दैकरसिकं
कटाक्ष व्याक्षेप भ्रमर कलभौ कर्णयुगलम्
अमुञ्चन्तौ दृष्ट्वा तव नवरसास्वादतरलौ
असूयासंसर्गादलिकनयनं किञ्चिद् अरुणम्

Transliteration :


kavInAm sandharbhasthabakamakarandaikarasikam
kaTAksha vyakshEpa bhramara kalabhau karNa yugalam
amunchantau drshtvA tava navarasa AsvAda tharalau
asuyAsamsargadalika nayanam kinchid arunam


Meaning :


Oh goddess, Your two wide eyes are like the two little  bees which want to drink the honey and extend to the ends under the pretense of side glances; to thine two ears which are bent upon drinking the honey of the navarasas, from the flower bunch of poems of your devotee poets; and make your third eye red with  envy.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times a day for 5 days, offering sugar and sugarcane as prasadam, one would get cured of pox.

ஸ்ரீஜய பாலினி நீராஜ லோசனி
ஸ்ரீஜகத்காரணி நளின கடாக்ஷிணி

ஸ்ரீஜய காவியாமிர்தம் ரஸித்திடும் காரணங்களை
ராஜேஷ்வரி  நயனம் நீண்டு வீக்ஷிப்பதால்

நவரஸாஸ்வாதம் செய்யும் கடாக்ஷ வீக்ஷண்யமான
நளின குடிலவண்டு போன்ற நயனம் கண்டு
கவனம் செய் காவ்யாம்ருதம் கிடைத்திடாமல் அசூயையால்
சிவந்திருக்கவே வேண்டும் நெற்றி திரு நயனமே

காவிய மகரந்தத்தின் ரசமரியும் காரணத்தை
தேவி நேத்திரமிக சிருங்காரமதாகவே
பூவை கமலாக்ஷிணி புனித கடாக்ஷத்தால்
பாவை விசால கவி பூவணி லோசனியே
