Soundarya Lahari - Sloka 16 - For Mastery of the Vedas

Sanskrit Text :

कवीन्द्राणां चेत:कमलवन बालातपरुचिं
भजन्ते ये संत:कतिचित् अरुणामेव भवतीं
विरिञ्चिप्रेयस्या: तरुणतर  श्रृङ्गारलहरी
गभीराभि: वाग्भि:विदाधति सतां रञ्जनममी

Transliteration :

kavIndrANAm chEtah kamalavana bAlAtapa ruchim
bhajantE yE santah katichit aruNAmEva bhavatIm
virinchi prEyasyAh taruNatara srungAralaharI
gabhIrAbhi vAgbhih vidAdhati satAm ranjanamamI

Meaning :

[O Mother], you are the warm sunlight that blooms the petals of the lotus flowers of the minds of the best of scholars.  Great sages who meditate upon and serve you, the one with the name Aruna and have the red colour of the dawn (also called Aruna in sanskrit), would attain happiness in their minds through the youthful, passionate and dignified words flowing like a great river from Brahma's consort, Saraswathi.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse1000 times each day for 45 days, offering honey as prasadam, then it is said that one would be able to master the Vedas.

அருணாதேவி சிவசக்தியே அம்பிகே
ஆனந்தஞான பூஷிதே

அருணாவர்ணா  சௌந்தர்யதேஜி
ஆசையாய் உபாசகர் அர்ச்சித்திடும்பூஜி

மதுரம் நிறைந்தகவி மனமெனும் தாமரை
மலர்ந்திட இளம் வெய்யில் காந்தப்ரகாஷினி
ஸதவ  குண ஜன ஸேவிக்கும் ராணி
 ஸந்ததம்  க்ருபை அருள் சாஸ்வத பூரணி

ஸரஸ்வதி  தேவியும் சௌந்தர்ய கடாக்ஷத்தால்
ஸ்ருங்கார ரச புஞ்ச சந்துஷ்டி பிரவாகமாய்
அருள் கவி கூட்டிடும் அன்பர் விஸ்வாசி  
அருணாதேவி கடாக்ஷி அம்பிகே விசாலாக்ஷி
