Soundarya Lahari - Sloka 15 - For Scholastic Aptitude

शरज्ज्योत्स्ना शुद्धां शशियुत जटाजूट मकुटां
वरत्रासत्राण स्फटिक घटिका पुस्तककरां
सकृन्नत्वा नत्वा कथमिव सतां सन्निदधते
मधुक्षीरद्राक्षा मधुरिमधुरीणा: फणितया:

Transliteration :

sharajjyotsnA shuddhAm shashiyuta jaTAjUta makuTAm
vara trAsa trANa sphatika ghatikA pustakakarAm
sakrunnatvA natvA katham iva sathAm sannidadhatE
madhukshIradrAkhsA madhurimadhurINAh phaNitayAh


Meaning :

[O Mother,] You are with a face with the whiteness of the autumn moon; and a head crowned with the cresent moon and flowing hair; with four hands one granting boons (the varada-hasta), one granting refuge (the abhaya-hasta), one holding a sphatika-mala and one holding a book. The sweetest of words rivaling the sweetness of honey, milk and grapes would automatically come to the devotee who meditates on your this form even once.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times each day for 45 days, offering honey, banana or sugar as prasadam, it is said that one would gain memory power and scholastic aptitude.

தேவி பகவதி பங்கஜமலர் பாதசரணம்

ஸ்ரீவித்தை தந்திடும் மகிமயே
ஓம் திரிபுரசுந்தரி


தேவி தாமரைத்தாளினை சரனம்செய்யும்
சாதகனுக்கருளும்
தேனும் பாலும் திராக்ஷைரஸமும் சிந்தும் சரள
வாக்கு சாநித்யம் அடையுமே

சரத்கால சந்திரிகா சசிமகுட
ஜடாலந்காரி த்ரிபுரபைரவி
வரப்ரதாய அபய மாலாபுஸ்தக புஜவதீ
கருணாமணி மனோன்மணி
கனகரூபிணீ கல்யாணி
குணாலங்கார கவிசப்த்தார்த்தம்
அடையும் விசாலாக்ஷி பாதம் தொழுதிட
