Soundarya Lahari - Sloka 12 - Attainment of Lord Siva

Sanskrit Text :

त्वदीयं सौन्दर्यं तुहिनगिरिकन्ये तुलयितुं 

कवीन्द्रा: कल्पन्ते कथमपि विरिञ्चि प्रभृतयः 

यदालोकौत्सुक्यात् अमरललना यान्ति मनसा 

तपोभिः दुष्प्रापमपि गिरिशसायुज्यपदवीं 

Transliteration :

tvadIyam saundaryam tuhinagirikanyE tulayitum
kavIndrAh kalpantE katham api virinchi prabhrutayah
yadAlOkautsukyAt amaralalanA yAnti manasA
tapObhih duShprApam api girishasayujyapadavIm


Meaning :

O, the daughter of the Himalayas, Even Brahma, the creator, and the greatest of the great poets, find it impossible to describe your sublime beauty. The heavenly maidens, perform penance to reach Lord Siva through their minds, so that they would be able to see your pristine beauty through the Lord's eyes.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 1000 times each day for 45 days, offering honey as prasadam, it is said one would be able to attain the grace of Lord Siva and even the dumb would be able to speak.

ஹிமயகிரி கன்னிகே ஈஸ்வரியே என்னை 

ஆண்டருள்வாய் அன்னையே 

இமையோர் துதிக்கும் ஜகதீசருடன் அமர்ந்த 

எழில்மிகும் சௌந்தர்யா ரூபத்தினாளே

நாவினில் கலைவாணி தங்கிடும் நான்முகனும் 

தேவகுருக்ரந்த கவிதவமுநிகளும் 

ஆவலாய் சௌந்தர்யத்தை வர்ணிக்க அறியாமலும் 

தேவி உன் ஸ்வரூபத்தை த்யானித்து திகைத்திடும் 

ரம்பை ஊர்வசி முதல் அப்ஸர ராஜீவாக்ஷி 

அம்பே உன் அழகினை அடைந்திட வனஜாக்ஷி

சாம்புவின் சாயுஜ்யத்தை தபஸ்ஸால் அடையும்மாக்ஷி 

அமைந்த சௌந்தர்ய காட்சி அருள் செய்த விசாலாக்ஷி
