Soundarya Lahari - Slokam 03 - For Knowledge

Sanskrit Text

अविद्यानां  अन्तस्तिमिरमिहिर द्वीपनगरी
जडानां  चैतन्य स्तबक मकरन्द श्रुति  झरि
दरिद्राणां  चिन्तामणि गुणनिका  जन्मजलधौ
निमघ्नानां   दंष्ट्रा   मुररिपुवराहस्य  भवती 

Transliteration

avidyAnAm antastimiramihira dvIpanagarI
jaDAnAm caitanya stabaka makaranda shruti jhari
daridrANAm cintAmaNi guNanikA janmajaladhau
nimaghnAnAm damshTrA muraripuvarahasya bhavatI

Translation

[O Mother, the dust from your feet is] like the the land of the sun for the ones lamenting in ignorance, like the flow of invigorating nectar for the ones who with little physical or mental power, like a treasure of a heap of wish granting gems to the poorest of the poor and like the tusks of Varaha rescuing those drowning in the ocean called the cycle of birth and death.

Pooja Vidhi and Proposed Result

If one chants this verse 2000 times each day, for 45 days, one would gain the ability to gather knowledge of all arts and sciences.

மங்கள மதுமா கிரிதனயே
மரகத மாதங்கி மலரடி துணையே

சங்கரர் மகிழும் சௌந்தர்யா திருவடி
பங்கஜ மலர் ரசானந்த  பிரவாகமடி

அந்தகார இருள் சூழும் அஞ்ஞானிக்கு
சுந்தரி பாததூளி சூரிய உதயமாகும்மந்தபுத்தி உள்ளோர்க்கு மலரும் ஞான பூங்கொத்து
தந்திடும் கல்ப்பரஸ தாராப்ரவாகம்
தனநிதி விசாலாக்ஷி தரித்திர ஏழைகட்க்கு
மனமகிழ சிந்தாமணி ரத்னசமூகமாகும்
ஜனன மரணக்கடல் சேர்ந்தே அமிழ்ந்தொர்க்கு
கனமுள்ள வராஹத்தின்  கொரைப் பல்லாகின்றது
