Krishna Nee Begane Baaro

Background :
Composed in Kannada by Vyasaraya Tirtha in the late 15th or early 16th century. The song is written picturing Lord Krishna as a toddler and calling him to come towards us.

ಕೃಷ್ಣ ನೀ ಬೇಗನೆ ಬಾರೋ
ಬೇಗನೆ ಬಾರೋ ಮುಖವನ್ನೇ ತೋರೋ

ಕಾಲಲಂದಿಗೆ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆ ನೀಲಾದ ಬಾವುಲಿ ನೀಲವರ್ಣನೆ ನಾಟ್ಯ ನಡುತ ಬಾರೋ.
ಉಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಗೆಜ್ಜೆ ಬೆರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಗುರ ಕೊರಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದ ವೈಜಯಂತಿ ಮಾಲೆ .
ಕಾಶಿ ಪೀತಾಂಬರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಳಲು ಪೂಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀಗಂಧ ಮೈಯೋಳ ಗಮ ಗಮ .
ತಾಯಿಗೆ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಜ್ಜಗವನ್ನೇ ತೋರಿದ ಜಗದೋದ್ಧಾರಕ ನಮ್ಮ ಉಡುಪಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ.

English Transliteration :
krishna nee bEganE bArO
bEganE bArO mukhavannE tOrO

kAlalandigE gejjE neelAda bAvuli neelavarNanE nATya nADuta bArO.
uDiyalli uDugejje beraLalli ungura koraLalli hAkida vaijayanti mAle.
kASi pItAmbara kaiyalli koLalu pUSida SrIgandha maiyOLa ga ma ga ma.
tAyigE bAyalli mujjagavanne tOrida jagadoddhAraka namma uDupi SrI krishNa.

Translation :
Krishna, you come [here] quickly,
come quickly, show [your] face

[you have] anklets on the feet; blue-sapphire bracelets; [O!] blue-hued one, come dancing.
on the waist, a waistband; on fingers, rings;  the neck adorned with Vyjayanthi garland.
[Dressed in] Yellow [silk] fabric from Kashi; flute in hand; [with] anointed sandal scent from the body
[the one] who showed the three worlds to [his] mother in [his] mouth; saviour of the world; our Udupi Sri Krishna.
