On March 18, 2016, the book "Mahabharata" was published in a retelling of Krishna Dharma Das with illustrations by the Italian artist Giampaolo Tomassetti.
Giampaolo Thomasetti is a famous artist, portraitist, illustrator and restorer. He began his artistic career with the restoration of old buildings, frescoes and making copies and reproductions of famous paintings in European museums.
In the early 1980s, Giampaolo Thomasetti became a co-founder and a member of the International Academy of Vedic Art. In 2003, after a thorough study of the Mahabharata, Giampaolo Thomasetti began work on a large-scale project dedicated to the great spiritual epic.
After 12 years, he completed his collection of 25 majestic paintings depicting the main moments of the Mahabharata. A few of them are shown here. The captions are mine and may differ from that in the book.

DeleteThe work is great. I'd like to bring to your notice that the second painting shows "bheema and bhagadatta", and the second last one shows "abhimanyu in chakravyuha". Please correct the captions of these two images. You can also refer to the book "Mahabharata" by the painter Giampaolo Tomassetti himself.
