Most of you might be aware of the term "Game Theory", popularised by the movie Beautiful Mind. Game Theory is a mathematical framework for studying competition and co-operation between 'rational' decision making being. It basically shows that it is good to think a little about the benefits of others, so as to get maximum possible benefits for yourself.
I wanted to test if humans are as rational as Game Theory wants. This is done by a small game.
The game is quite simple. Everyone gets to choose a number between 0 and 100. The number of players is not known beforehand. At the end of the 'game', all the chosen numbers are averaged out and the WINNING number is the one which is closest to two-thirds of the average. Every player knows this and wants to win.
So, what number would you choose??
