Update on 6PC for me

 If you have read this blog you must have read some of my rantings posts on the sixth pay commission. Well, the revised pay did come and though it was not as good as we had asked for, it did not turn out to be as bad as feared. (May be that is what the strategy was. Freak us out with the possibility of a ridiculously low pay and then offer a slightly higher pay..)

The pay was implemented retrospectively and we assistant professors have been placed in the PB-3 band with a starting pay of Rs. 30,000 with an AGP (academic grade pay) of Rs. 8000.  After 3 years as assistant professor, irrespective of a promotion to associate professor, we would be placed in PB-4 with a pay of Rs. 37,000 and AGP of Rs. 9000.

In case of associate professors and professors, the pay is naturally higher. But, I am not concerned about that right now. Will be concerned once I get into one of those categories.
