Suhasini Pooja

The day was 23rd of December, the venue was Kamakshi Temple on Aruna Asaf Ali Marg in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

The Suhasini pooja is performed every pournami day in this temple, after Mahadeeparadhana. The pooja involves worshipping an elderly married woman (sumangali), an young girl(kumari) and a brahmachari boy, considering them to be manifestations of the Deity, for the day.

This pournami, which, as mentioned earlier, fell on the 23rd, my mother was the Sumangali, which gave me a chance to view the pooja. It was quite a sight to watch...especially my mother. It was in this podavai that she was worshipped. The photo was taken in the bhajana mandapam of the temple.
